Well, as this is one of my first BtS games, I think I should post some info here. I got Sitting Bull, of the Native Americans as my leader. Well, I cannot say I jumped when I got it, but I won't complain also...
Sitting bull is
Protective and
Philosophical. Well, I think I can deal with it. Philosophical is one of my favorite traits, as I never seem to know when to cottage. Protective sucks, but this civilization has a nice combo with it. The unique building is the
Totem pole, which is a Monument that acts as a Barracks for archery units. So, with Barracks, an archer gets right out of the bat Drill I, CG I, and two more promotions. This epic has a restriction: the player cannot declare war until 1000 BC. Normally, I don't do it, but with Sitting Bull this should be no problem. His unique unit is the
Dog Soldier, an resourceless axeman with 4 Str, but with + 100% to melee units. Defensively, it rules. It's a spearman for axes and swords. But offensively.....
The starting techs are
Fishing and
Agriculture. They kinda don't go well with the traits. Maybe it was designed consciously this way, else Sitting Bull would be uncrushable early on. There are a list of early goals I can think out of the gate:
- Stonehenge will grant a Totem Pole in every city until Astronomy. That's cool, as by the time Astro comes into play, Gunpowder will be around.
- The Great Wall will slow down the other AI's, as they won't be able to reach us. We don't need free XP also. The archers will be cool with Protective. Also, it's good to have Great Spy points. Maybe the order should be Great Wall on Capital and Stonehenge on second city.
- Archery is obviously a no-brainer to pursue at the start.
- The Oracle for a feudalism slingshot would be just perfect.
Well, so much for the pre-game. I need to see the start before judging any of these. Would you please
join me?
